Fashion's Night Out in Japan

So I was wandering how come both The Chicmuse and Blonde Salad are in Tokyo-Japan, because usually they go to places when something is fashion related. And of course it is. Both these girls and other bloggers are invited to join the celebrations for Japan's Fashion Night Out on the 5 of November. Japan was recently struck by an earthquake and a tsunami as well, and Conde Nast decided to pay extra attention on this FNO, and boost sales as much as they can, since Japan is a very important market. It is today also that they revealed an amazing promo photo of all the editors in chief of the countries were Vogue is published (except Greece's and Brazil's for reasons unknown), headlined by Anna Wintour. It is so nice to see some of the most powerful women in fashion, join their forces!

A car for someone special

The Selby was recently in Rome, Italy to photograph amongst other things, the unveiling of the Maserati GranCabrio Fendi edition. The powerful lady behing Fendi, Silvia Venturini Fendi, is the one responsible for this superlux edition of an already luxurious car. Maserati is well known for the craftmaship and design of its cars, but Fendi took this model one step further. With unique touches such as a gold speckled dark grey paint, extra fine leather with embossed Fendi's double F logo, yellow (Fendi's signature color) touches both on the inside and the outside of the car, plus a limited edition of leather luggage and accessories, it is an individually numbered special edition. Every car made will have a silver oval plaque with the Fendi logo, Maserati Trident and a five digit number on it. Surely one car made for the elite...

This small round Louis Vuitton-I wonder if I can call it a- purse, caught my eye back in september during the S-S 11 Paris fashion week. Tassels are coming up as a hit trend, in earrings, necklaces and this little cutie is a piece of wonder coming true. Well not exactly coming true as I recently saw in cocoperez that the Monogram Nova Minaudière will be retailing for the price of 35.000$, yes this is a five digit number. It is encrusted in swarovski crystals placed by hand and I personally love the long gold tassel. Now if only I could have Marc Jacobs as a veeeery close friend...

THE Perfect Boots

Dior is one of my favorite fashion houses. I love what John Galliano is doing there, even though our relationship has had its ups and downs (some collections were simply OK but most are amazing). This Fall collection is definetely one of my favorites and besides the dreamy clothes, Galliano designed the ultimate pair of over knee boots. First quality leather, laces, buckles and harness style around the feet, in the signature Dior renaissance vibe, there's nothing better out there. Wearable (I want them with lingerie style dresses and skinny faded jeans), sexy and tough. Louboutin is surely sexy but I think only Giovanna Battaglia managed to pull off those red studded thigh high boots at the 90 years Paris Vogue Party. The Peter Pan Effect

Wikipedia gives the definition: "Peter Pan collars are a popular collar style for younger children" and mostly worn by female. I don't really see the reason why Disney didn't give its character Peter Pan a round-edged collar, especially since it is named after him, but I know that lately all I want is those white collars as seen on my favorite girl, Alexa Chung. She also designed some for her line with Madewell, but I don't have access. I had my eyes on this one but unfortunatelly it is out of stock now. There are alternatives though like this one and this one . We'll see, I would also love a white shirt or a blouse with this collar. Peter Pan Collar is my thing for now!

My new favorite t-shirt is in my closet. My precious Alber Elnaz designed t-shirt is just as amazing as it looked in the pictures (+ 100% organic cotton). And knowing only 400 were printed it makes it even more unique. This Lanvin t-shirt is part of a collection style.com launched for their 10th anniversary marked with the latin number "X". Ten designers were asked to create one t-shirt each all having in common an "X". Calvin Klein is too minimal for me, Rodarte too complicated, Alexander Wang's reminds me of pasties and Lady Gaga, Proenza Schouler is too DIY, Kane's was just "nice", Prada has two little guys on the bottom I've never seen before, so I had to choose from Rick Owens' very strong design, Balmain's which reminds me of Ba-Rock fountain pen writting, Givenchy's spinal print reminiscent of The Amazing Fall 2010 Couture Show and a classic Alber Elbaz for Lanvin sketch. January Jones is the second reason (after Jon Hamm) I watch Mad Men, actually all of the cast are. I think she is very elegant, a modern lady, never showing too much nor beeing a prude at the same time. She hits the right balance all the time, even when in jeans. This is how all young actresses should dress. Last night at the Emmy's she was dashing. The bold choice of color and design of this Versace gown, suited her figure perfectly. With only the right amount of bare skin she looks classy and modern at the same time. Her loose shine hair and this discrete make up complete the look. Talk about nailing the look, Congratulations Mrs Draper!

Big, Shiny and Stylish, bugs were allover the place at the Bottega Veneta show. We are used to a more classic, kind of uptight yet feminine looks at the milanese house but these jewels were surely a welcoming surprise. They are kind of scary and kind of cute at the same time. They are on sale at net-a-porter and if you can't afford the amazing Lacquered silver knot insect clutch maybe those earrings ... no? Well I can't spend this much either, maybe I'll stick with topshop bumble bee ring or this insect one.
You know I am about to start hunting for more insects, you can tell it from all the flies I use as a background that I find them very appealing (of course I don't enjoy their company if they are alive)

The charming Jon Hamm

I loved Mad Men the day I watched the very first episode. It wasn't mainly about the plot, it was the characters, the atmosphere of the late 50's and of course the charming Don Draper, actor Jon Hamm. So when I saw his latest cover on W Magazine I absolutely loved it. He is posing with his costar, in the Ben Afleck directed upcoming movie, "The Town", the lovely Rebecca Hall and they both look stunning. You can read the entire interview here. What I think is mostly worth bying this issue, is the amazing photospread of the two. I find it very interesting when actors, singers etc. are photographed as if they are models telling a story through the pictures. Shot by Nathaniel Goldberg and styled by Lori Goldstein, Jon Hamm looks breathtaking. This is what all men should look like, polished and put together, while at the same time masculine and relaxed. Metrosexuals are definetely over, welcome back real men!

The perfect bathing suit

I have been searching for the perfect swimwear for a long time, online and in stores, but hadn't found anything good for me. That means the perfect fit and something new that I don't already have. Everything was either too...brazilian for me (I don't think I have the courage to walk up and down the beach with 2/3 of my bottom showing), really boring (just how many floral-mixed prints, triangle-string bikinis can you handle) or too retro (big bottoms that spread all around your tummy and thighs)Until one rainy afternoon as I was wondering in the city stores I went inside Undercolors of Benetton. After trying on nearly everything in store, because I couldn't decide which one I liked better, amazingly they all had great fit! I decided I liked the white velour two piece swimsuit with the red-blue ribbons on the sides and around the neckline. It fits great, has a retro-chic vibe and I cannot wait to wear it! And when today, I saw this Natasha Poly editorial shot by Mario Sorrenti in Paris Vogue (THE ultimate fashion Bible) I know I made the perfect choice!
See you at the beach!

p.s. Did I mention it was my birthday, so my sister and my friends bought it for me plus the matching blue velour shorts and flip flops? It doesn't get any better than this!

The woman behing Vogue Nippon is the super-stylish-to say the least- Anna dello Russo. Being the fashion director of a magazine and having your pictures taken all the time means you are practically obliged to be dressed to the nines. But every time you see a photo of hers, it's as if she doesn;t even try and that's the essence of personal style. This is a spread from Vogue Nippon Accessories issue and I think it has her name written all over it. The extra large colorful jewellery are kind of her favorite...but her unbreakable rule is one: NO make up.-

There is something really special about this specific music festival. Maybe it's the location (Coachella Valley, Southern California), maybe the bands attending or what celebrities wear, but most of all I think it must be the feeling of completely letting go for a couple of days. No worries, relaxed, just there to have some fun and enjoy the good music. Boots, sunglasses, vintage style clothing and usually a hat is all a girl needs to look cool. But the best accessory is usually a boyfriend holding hands, kissing as if they don't even care about photographers. Maybe someday I'll make it, a girl can dream....

I want to live in The Selby

There is something about the spaces The Selby shows us all-mere-mortals, that makes you wanna jump right into them. It is not like when a famous person shows his place in a magazine after having it all cleaned and tidied up, perhaps inspected by a professional decorator, because then it usually gives you the idea that no one actually lives there and they just use other rooms to sleep/eat/ bathe etc.. Oh but the Selby pics, those are really something. Todd Selby - an interiors and fashion photographer-, captures the owners (usually someone with distinctive personality, style and creative like Cecilia Dean or Sally Singer), in their natural everyday surroundings, or at least it looks that way. If you are looking for some inspiration to decorate your new house or re-vamp your current one, then just click through! Personally, I find something amazing (and doable) in every single space...

As you can see this is Natalie Portman photographed by Ellen Von Unwerth for the March issue of "Interview" magazine in the year 1996. As the credits say she is wearing shirt and pants by Ter et Bantine (you can't really see it but I have the magazine and I saw it). But doesn't this print look very "today" right now? It's not just me, it looks pretty much like the Miu Miu cat prints of S/S 2010, no? Natalie looks great anyway! Cat ladies all over the world unite!

There it was. Small, adorable, vaguely revealling the secrets of a girl, with a touch of fur (synthetic) and the trademark Chanel chain. The models at the Chanel fashion show for Fall 2010 were very lucky to hold it first. Apart from all the perfect fur on the clothes and some amazing leather jackets, this small purse made quite an impression on me. I hope all this doesn't mean that Chanel is entering it's Ice Age though...

When it comes to Diesel it has to do with denim and when it comes to Black Gold you get black leather. Those two, were the basic ingredients in the Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection from Diesel Black Gold, Diesel's premium line. Leather, can also be linked to something...or better someone too. Sophia Kokosalaki has a unique way of working leather subtly as if it were silk and this collection was her debut one, as a creative director Diesel Black Gold. Renzo Rosso CEO and head of the Diesel Brand, already had bought shares in Sophia Kokosalaki's eponymous line and now offered her a new challenge. Beautyful skinny jeans, tight body con leather dresses, cowboy plaid shirts and boots, for a woman that feels strong and sexy. Kokosalaki managed to make us long for those pieces and hope that perhaps these dresses we can afford, contrary to those that read Sophia Kokosalaki on the label. I'll have the denim dungarees Karlie Kloss was wearing, the denim shirt with the black neck and the leather dress with the nude details on the top (still cannot deside which one, propably the one on Freja). Please deliver them as soon as possible Sophia. Thank you.

God Rest McQueen In Peace

Words cannot describe what the loss of The Great Alexander means to everyone who loves fashion. When I was younger and my love affair with fashion was only beginning, it was the time when John Galliano and Alexander McQueen had just completed their degrees at Central Saint Martin's, London and there was such a big buzz around their collections. And the moment I saw his collections I understood why everyone was saying that fashion should be about fantasy, innovation, imagination and so many more that McQueen delivered with his shows. He was the one that made me believe that you can make it to the fashion world, even if you don't have a rich & famous family background-his dad was a taxi driver and mother was a teacher. He was one the few who have managed to make his name a fashion synonyme starting from scratch. He was unique, a true artist and never did he lower his standards in the name of commercialism.

Everything he did was in the name of true Fashion.

One of the Greats is lost but will be remembered through his work.

I cannot stop thinking/dreaming of the amazing dark green coat/dress Galliano showed at the Dior Couture show for Spring 2010 in Paris. I'm completely taken by the way this piece of silk is wrapped around the coat in a twist that is so feminine and chic, and of course the amazing green color of the whole piece combined with those purple satin pumps. Only for a few lucky ones...unfortunatelly.

Galliano for Dior always keeps it magical, luxurious and extravagant when it comes to couture, as he did once more for the Spring 2010 Dior Couture Show. The details are beautiful (many-many hours of handfrafts), the colors are vibrant and the whole equestrian idea unigue. Bonus points for the grey painted hair and the porcelain face, make up. Always an inspiration.

There is a new font made out of the most fashionable key items every season. Shoes, bags, gloves, dresses everything that can be cut out from magazines gives form to the "Fashion Font". Her name is Yvette Yunjung, Yang and she was born in Seoul, Korea. She is a very talented graphic designer who has worked for Korean Vogue and is currently a student from St. Joost, The Netherlands. The first time she did a fashion alphabet was in 2007 from the F/W collections. She believes tha "the image is the message" and this is why she created an image font that is more meaningful. These fonts don't need spelling, you get the message simply by looking at them. Looking forward to more magazines collaborations

Ralph Lauren "Crystalize" me please!!!!

After "The Attack of The Studs", during winter, comes the spring "Attack of The Crystals" (Swarovski most preferably). Never before have I been so excited about a Ralph Lauren collection as his latest for the summer of 2010. I mean he always has classic american style written all over but this...Amazing jeans, dresses and tops in an incredably laid back yet chic style that looked so fresh and at the same time wearable by all ages. And near the end comes the gem of the collection, a pair of ripped-torn out boyfriend jeans, completely covered in swarovsky crystals both on the front and back. Breathless. I cannot even describe how much I want a pair. "Crystalized" tank tops and dresses were there too. Sales are officialy starting tomorrow here in Greece-at last. Everyone says during sales you should invest in something classic, that will come in handy next winder too, perhaps an expensive brand you couldn't afford etc. I myself am not sure yet what it's gonna be. BUT I know I want a pair of white sneakers and a new pair of jeans, a t-shirt, maybe a nice dress and I want them all to be covered with little crystals!! Am I asking much? We'll see...

From Mulberry to Alexa with Love

The new Mulberry bag inspired by Alexa Chung, was announced during the Fashion week back in September 2009. Now we can finally see what comes from the mixing of a super cool british girl's style and a luxurious plus traditional British fashion house. Alexa Chung is one of my personal favorites, she is in the spotlight even more lately hence her unique mix & match style and the fact that she moved to New York (word is that she might be heading back home now though). You can hardly name her merely an "it Girl" because she is so much cooler than all those girls that go around holding the latest designer bags or wearing Balmain dresses with booties (don't get me wrong I love those dresses too, but there is a time when enough is enough).

So here you have it. The new "The Alexa" line of bags will be available soon and it is a mix of the amazing Bayswater (one of the house's trademarks and seen on Alexa in almost all the colors available) and the men's briefcase, mixed with feminine features. Combining classic leather and shape plus being one the most awaited products of S/S 2010 it is sure to become a great hit.

Everybody loves Vodianova, you have to have a problem if you don't. She is sweet, kind, and embodies a very encouraging idol. She was poor, warking hord from when she was very young and dispite the difficulties managed to become one of the most well paid top models of our time. Only 28 years old, she is happily married to the English blue-blooded Justin Portman (if she took his last name we would kind of have a problem when reffering to the "lovely Natali-a Portman) and has three children. So if you say you don't like her you propably envy her. Admit it. This summer her face will be in all the fashion magazines around the world, as she is the new face of Yves Saint Laurent. Succeeding Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Cambel in this position we guess she is officialy concidered a member of "The Top Models". Shot in a studio in New York, by the amazing photographic duo Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin under the artistic supervision of YSL's creative director Stephano Pilati of course she looks great.

The new year is here. So is a new decade, the " '10s " I guess but it doesn't really sound that good, neither did the " '00s ". Anyway, we'll just have to wait for the '20s. Pirelli

The Pirelli Calendar is always sexier than others, in a more obvious straightforward way. This year shot by Terry Richardson it's as sexy as it gets. Daisy Lowe must have been very busy since she is in this calendar too, along with Cathrene McNeil, Lily Cole, Miranda Kerr and 7 more famous models, running around naked or half naked, in a beautiful beach in Brazil. Terry is the only one who can make the girls get naked, feel comfortable and take such pictures. A great gift for every guy.

Olga Kurylenco was a Bond Girl and this could be enough for becoming the face of 2010 Campari Calendar. But, she also has a striking figure and an amazing face, which sum up to the perfect girl for the "red passion" drink. Shot by the young Italian photographer Simone Nervi in Milan, the pictures are powerful and sexy, plus they have amazing clothes and shoes by Italy's most popular designers, like Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino to name a few.

Defining "fashionizin"

"Fashionizin" is an infinitive I made up. It derives from the word "fashion" and the greek infinitive "zin" (actually spelled "ζην" in greek and pronounced "zin" which means "to live"). So there you have it, this blog is all about, living in fashion. Fashion is everywhere, from the dress you choose to wear, to the cocktail you drink, from the places where you travel to, to the music you hear and many many more hidden places. Based somewhere in Greece, I love the magic of fashion (not in a fashion victim"i-have-to-have-all-the-new-it-things-of-the-season", kind of way), the way it grows on us and very soon after it fades.
